KIDNAPPED KADUNA PRIEST REGAINS FREEDOM
Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, the Catholic priest kidnapped on April 24, 2024, from St. Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been released.
The Diocese of Kafanchan confirmed his freedom in a statement on Friday, signed by its Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Shanet.
He said, โFr. Amos was released unharmed, bringing relief to the Catholic community and his family after weeks of uncertainty and emotional distress.
โThe outpouring of concern and solidarity from people of goodwill, both online and offlineโincluding members of various faith communities, security agencies, local vigilantes, the Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS)โhas been overwhelming.โ
It added that these efforts demonstrated โthat we are not alone in the struggle to respect and promote the dignity of human life.โ
The Diocese expressed its gratitude to God and thanked all who offered prayers, support, and solidarity during the priestโs captivity.
โMay the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Priests, and all the angels intercede for those still in captivity and lead them back safely to their families and communities,โ the statement concluded.
Fr. Amosโ abduction had drawn significant attention, renewing calls for more robust security measures to combat the persistent insecurity in Kaduna, particularly in Southern Kaduna, where abductions and violence remain a serious concern.
